Queer is also about having the right to embrace identities as our own even if its standard practices, expressions, and implementations have been shown to be ineffective. Don’t forget that part. The last thing we need is for queer individuals who have found comfort in what we define as the opposition to be ostracized and made less than.

“Queer” is also HOLY SHIT this entire fucking post is so fucking classist I can’t even ~*quantify*~ it. Not everyone who could identify as queer has the academic background to understand the bullshit post that the OP has up there.
Queer is anything that isn’t straight, or doesn’t count as “normal” when it comes to relationships and marriage and expectations, or if you’re not sure if you’re a boy or a girl or something in between or—
Mostly I just want to say “FUCK YOU” to the OP. Kudos for gay rights awareness; now try getting awareness of everything fucking else.
