“I think that the outcry over Barbara being Batgirl came from butthurt Stephanie Brown fans.”
I think the new Batgirl is an insult to the title

Also let’s take a look at the strength Oracle possessed. According to Lian Harper Oracle ran the Justice League. She was able to take out League of Assassin members on her own while in the chair. She was so admirable. Now she’s just on a mission to reclaim those three years she spent in a chair. That’s the sad part. There was nothing to reclaim. Barbara Gordon regressed so much in the reboot. Yes I’m pissed that Stephanie Brown and Cassandra Cain have seemingly lost their spot in the bat family to return a character to her “benchmark” title (when that is so far off base) The Barbara Gordon I knew adored the Batgirls that came after her. She was their mentor. She never would have taken the title away from them. This Barbara Gordon is a disgrace to what the character used to stand for.
